Pink Poppies Giclee Print, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, Choose your size

You know how much I love flowers.  I love to grow them, and paint them.  Since my move to the mountains, I don't have space to grow to many....so I may be painting them more often.

How could I resist these beautiful poppies?

Available as a giclee print

If you have taken pictures of flowers, that you would like to share with me, I would love to see them.

Artichoke Giclee' Canvas Print, Still Life Giclee Canvas Print, Artichokes of Roma by Carol Schiff, daily painting

I have been very busy adding giclee' prints to my Etsy site.  It has given me an opportunity to review some of my sold paintings.  I have enjoyed visiting with these "old friends" and though I would post a few.

Today  I wanted to show you this painting from a trip I took to Roma a few years ago.  I rented an apartment in Campo di Fiori, which is historical piazza.  One morning, I was surprised to see the piazza had been turned into a farmer's market for the day.  These were real farmers selling their fresh, beautiful produce.  I took lots of photos and when I returned home this was the first painting I created.

The painting has sold, but I am happy to offer it as a giclee' canvas print in numerous sizes. If you look closely, you may be able to see a few Italian words that I hid in the painting.

The giclee's are high quality canvas and inks, professionally printed, gallery wrapped and finished with a semi-gloss protective coating.  They come to you ready to hang.  This piece is available from 8x10x1.5" to over 24x36x1.5".

Happy Day!

Dogwood Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, 6x8" Oil on panel

I had an empty wall in my house.....unheard of for an artist!!  After much deliberation, I decided I wanted to hang a couple of florals I painted a few months ago.

Dreaming of Dogwood

I wanted to inspire myself to try more of this style, very loose, and painted with lots of transparent colors and lots of medium.

Daffodil Days

So far, I have had a problem trying to dupicate the look!!!

A further complication.....the original paintings are 6x8" and I needed  larger pieces for my wall.

That was a problem I could solve.  I ordered giclee prints on canvas, increasing the size of the prints.  I have to say they came out wonderful.  I even manipulated the color slightly on the dogwood to work better in my room.  Thankfully, I was able to take high resolution images of both paintings, allowing them to be printed in the size I desired without losing detail in the  image.

Now, I just have to keep practicing until I am able to duplicate my technique.

Bromeliad Painting, Small Oil Painting, Garden Painting, Daily Painting, 8x16x.75" Oil

I like all kinds of flowers, but bromeliads are one of my favorites.  Their varities are endless and they usually thrive with little or no help....just what I need!

I want to thank Pat Garvey, photographer, for the use of his image as a reference.  He captured the most wonderful light, which is what attracted me to this subject matter.

There is a lot going on in this painting, and I had to edit myself several times.

Rose Painting, Floral Still Life, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting 8x8x1.5" Oil SOLD

Yes, yes, yes......I am still painting flowers.  I have been on quite a flower jag lately.

I was pleased with this one.

SOLD

Roses have always been difficult for me.  This time I tried to channel Elio.  I was determined not to describe each petal,  I did my best to remember the softness and translucency of a rose petal.  I wanted to pop the colors, but, not too much.  Finally, I made myself stop!

Yes, I like this one.....and I hope you do too.

Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, VanGogh landscape, "Tribute to Vincent" by Carol Schiff, 6x8" Oil

Each week our art group appoints one member as leader.  The leader, decides what type of project we will work on that day.  A few weeks ago, Faye was our leader, and as her project, she brought it images of VanGogh and Monet paintings for us to re-create.

I chose his very famous "Wheatfield with Cypresses" . Actually, I chose one of three similar paintings that carry that name.

I have always wanted to give his famous and distinctive swirling brushwork a try.  It was an interesting experiment, one that I will probably do again.

Years ago, I spent some time studying the masters  and duplicating some of their works.  I found it to be very informative.  Here is one of my attempts at Degas' work, "Woman Bathing"
