Thistle Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, SOLD

This small oil painting is a tribute to thistles. The lowly thistle, thought to be a weed, in my eyes, a brilliant floral beauty.

SOLD

I photographed this thistle while taking a summer walk in the valley. Armed with my image, I painted it in oil, with lots of texture to suggest the spikey flower. Some of the texture comes from my use of the palette knife, and some of it was applied direct to the canvas. The sides of the canvas are finished, allowing it to be hung with or without a frame.

This is a picture of me, doing my favorite thing!

Thank you for viewing my art today.

Tulip Painting, Floral Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 6x6" Oil on Canvas Panel SOLD

I found a video on Youtube of Nancy Medina, the flower queen, painting a tulip.  So, I decided to try painting along with the video.

SOLD
Of course, her technique looks very effortless, which didn't happen with me.  Of course, her results are perfection, which didn't happen with me.  Of course, she has done it thousands of times..........ditto.

All in all, I think it was a fun experience and I am hoping I found a little something that I can continue to use.

We are so fortunate to be part of the first generation of artists with all the wonderful learning experiences the internet can  provide for us.

Have a great day!

Flower Palette Knife Painting, Hydrangea Painting,Small Oil Painting, SOLD,Daily Painting, 6x8" Textured Floral

While everyone is running around, with thoughts of turkey on their minds, I sit at the computer, remembering my lovely garden from last summer.  Hydrangea is always a favorite for me.

SOLD
I painted with a palette knife, and left it very impressionistic, almost abstract.  I wanted to highlight the colors and not the form.

I have been struggling with my oils for several months now, but I was happy with the results on this piece, which has given me hope.

Thank you for viewing my blog today and I wish you all a HAPPY TURKEY DAY.

Early Paintings, How Far Have You Come?, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting

Every once in awhile, I like to review my painting files.  I think it is extremely helpful, to see how your painting style has changed over the years.

SOLD

SOLD

When I started painting, I did lots of still life.  These two have encouraged me, to get back in the still life mode, doing set-ups in my studio.

Sometimes we just need to shake things up a little.   I think I am there, now.  Let's get a little new inspiration!
