Flower Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Floral Still Life, "Hydrangea and Cross Bottle" by Carol Schiff, 6x8" Original

There is something special about this painting.  Yes, I painted it, and the composition is not the best, and yet I keep coming back to it.  Maybe it is the color, or the texture or the knife work.....I don't know, but it intrigues me.

Apple on Tree Landscape, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, 9x12x.75" Oil Painting SOLD

During our stay in the mountains last month, we visited the apple orchard several times.  The apples are great, but the bakery is my favorite.......apple cider doughnuts, apple cake and apple fritters...YUM!

I like to think this apple ended up in one of my favorite goodies.

The weather is beautiful and we really appreciate the sunny, cool days.  Perfect fall weather.  We really appreciate it after spending a week in Florida with humid weather and a major hurricane.

Have a great day.

My Trip to Three Sister Vineyards

Do you remember my announcement that my painting has been selected for a wine lable?  Well here it is, in all it's glory!  It is a pineapple infused chardonnay, and my new favorite wine.

Thank you to Three Sisters Vineyards for choosing my work for their label!

Naturally, I had to make a trip to the vineyard, and I am so happy I did.

Three Sisters Vineyard in Dahlonega, GA is a great experience  for everyone. This weekend, they have food trucks and live music.

The grounds are charming.

The new barn for events of all kinds, including weddings.

The perfect place to enjoy your bottle of wine.....just outside the tasting room.

Touches of Fall are everywhere.  We Floridians eat that up!

Inside the tasting room, we were warmly greeted by the family.  Did I mention this is a family business?  Can you tell everyone is enjoying their selections.

There is no end to the charming views of this historic property.

184 acres of North Georgia Mountain vineyard beauty and the oldest continuously operated vineyard and winery on the Dahlonega Plateau.

Overlooked by Three Sisters Mountains

It was not easy pulling my husband away.  Neither of us wanted to end this wonderful and relaxing afternoon.

A special thanks to Doug and Sharon for sharing their fabulous piece of heaven.

Flower Painting | Floral Still Life | Small Oil Painting | Rhododendron by Carol Schiff 6x8 Oil

Still painting flowers!  Hope you have not tired of them yet.  I will try to break up the flower posts with other subject matter, just to keep you awake.

$95 + 6.50

This petite bouquet of rhododendron blossoms grew next to my house in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  I snipped a few and placed them in a jelly jar on my kitchen window sill.  I love the effect of the darkened flowers with the bright light flowing in behind them.

My goal with these little works is to keep strong basic shapes and let the viewer's eye fill in missing pieces.  As you can see from this photo, the paint is thick and the strokes are few.

Happy Morning to you!

Flower Painting, Daily Painting, "Sunshine Mix" by Carol Schiff, 8x6" Oil SOLD

Today's flower painting is a little reminder that spring is not to far away! It seems like this must be the longest winter in the history of the world!
SOLD
I liked the fresh brushwork and the abstract shapes in this painting

I like painting flowers because I love the vibrant colors and I can make the shapes whatever I want them to be.  Most of my flower paintings are free of detail and stress.  I almost feel like I am playing when I paint them.  The next time you are close to tearing your hair out, I highly recommend, step back and take a deep breath.....and work on a flower painting!

Don't forget to pin it!

Floral Bouquet in Oil, Daily Painting, 6x8" Still Life Painting SOLD

I made up a small bouquet of flowers, to take to an elderly neighbor, and snapped a few photos as they set on my window, waiting to be delivered.

SOLD
I am forever photographing flowers.  I am attracted by their colors and various shapes and have a very large file on my computer dedicated to their images.

I wanted to practice painting a rose, trying to just suggest the flowers without too much detail.  I think it was a good exercise for me.

Thanks for viewing my blog today.

Floral Still Life, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Flower Still Life, 12x12x1.5" Oil, "Garden Bounty"

I picked these flowers (peony and hydrangea)  from my garden, and placed them in sunlight.

I have to admit, I struggled with this piece.  I started with a brush, but after much frustration, I turned to my trusty palette knife.  In the end, I am happy with the values, and the glow on the hydrangea on the rigfht.  And the colors, love the colors.  In fact, the more I look at it....the happier I get!

So the moral of this story is, don't give up!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my dear granddaughter, Courtney!!

Fall In The Mountains

I have been in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina since early September.  Some of my painting buddies were with me earlier last month.

We took a short trip up the Blue Ridge Parkway.  Here we are a 7,000 feet.

The weather was beautiful and so was the view!

We visited several waterfalls and had a delicious picnic.

The trees had just a touch of color, at the time.

We made some new artist friends, who had this pear tree outside their studio.  Thank you for your hospitality Joe and Mari.

We visited the apple orchard and bought fresh cider.  I'm going back for those apple fritters!

Nothing beats the fresh fruits and vegetables, right out of the fields!

Denette made a new friend in Hendersonville.  We also had a fabulous lunch and shopping trip!!

We didn't have time to paint, but took photos everywhere.  Maybe you will recognize some of the paintings I will be posting in the future.

One day we drove around looking for interesting barns for future artworks.

There are so many beautiful scenes in our country.  We loved the farmlands as much as the mountains.

The perfect finish to our day, a glass of wine and good music, overlooking trees and a creek.

Thanks for viewing my blog today.
