Now for the deal of the day.....Purchase at the link above and you will be charged $165.00 and shipping. You must write ART SALE on the order to receive the discount.  As soon as I receive your payment, I will return a credit of $20.00 to your credit card or PayPal account.

This sale is only for readers of my blog, so if you don't write ART SALE on the order, I won't know you saw it here and you won't get a rebate.

Tip for artists:  Instead of purchasing art books, I purchase paintings from my favorite artists.  I find it much more helpful for me to study technique and brushwork from an actual example instead of a book.  I have the added benefit of owning original artwork which I enjoy daily in my home.

Daily Painting, Floral, "Red Hibiscus" 6x8" SOLD

Hibiscus is one of my favorite flowers.  They are very tropical, hula girls always have them behind their ears, and they come in a variety of colors and sizes.

This is a common type that I found planted behind the Eau Gallie Library.  I went there early one morning on a photo shoot, looking for stray pelicans and egrets that usually hand around the fishing pier behind the library.  No birds in sight.....also no fishermen.  I was just about to drive away when I noticed the flowers, turned to the morning light.

So, it was not a wasted trip after all.  It is always a wonderful feeling to be out in nature in the morning stillness.

I am trying to get my art to Times Square...you can help.  Just click here and click on the "collect" button at the top of the page!

Happy Weekend!

Small Still Life, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Lemon Still Life, "A Classic Set-Up" by Carol Schiff, 8x10 Original

Yes indeed, this is a classic set-up!  This small still life painting was completed during an Elio Camacho workshop last fall.

I found the workshop to be both helpful and exciting.  Elio's gave us some information that I had not heard before, especially about the direction of strokes and color.

I don't take a lot of workshops and always get very stressed in them, trying to follow my instructor's information.  This workshop was no different.  I ended up with paintings that looked unlike Elio's and unlike mine.  However, Elio is a very talented artist and instructor and I immediately signed up for a second workshop with him this spring.  Hopefully I will be a bit more relaxed next time.

Flowe Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Floral Still Life, "Hydrangea and Cross Bottle" by Carol Schiff, 6x8" Original

There is something special about this painting.  Yes, I painted it, and the composition is not the best, and yet I keep coming back to it.  Maybe it is the color, or the texture or the knife work.....I don't know, but it intrigues me.

This little piece sold at our group Christmas sale last month.  Thank you Helen Wheatly for your purchase and your very kind words.

When I see pansies, one of my favorite flowers, I always remember coming to visit my grandmother.  We lived in Ohio and a winter trip to Florida was always welcomed.  My grandmother would always have her yard planted with pansies, which are a winter flower in Florida.

Stay warm today....wherever you are!

PS:  I will soon have some exciting news to share with you.....stay tuned in!
